Similar to Cancún, the resorts in Los Cabos are popular destinations for spring breakers. Los Cabos (in the state of Baja California Sur) consists of two adjoining towns- Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo. Cabo San Lucas’ main beach, Playa el Médano, runs along a strip of several resorts and has many bars, restaurants and beach clubs. From the beach, you can see the town’s famous arch, which is located at the most southern end of the state. San José del Cabo also has resorts right along the coast, but for the most part, looks just like a regular Mexican town. It has art galleries, shopping areas and even breweries if you want to spend a few hours wandering around town. Unfortunately I can’t offer a complete guide of Los Cabos as I only spent a weekend here, but if you live on the west coast of the States, it’s a great place for a quick getaway.
- Baja Brewing Company– I visited their cantina in San José’s art district. Half of the cantina is like a regular restaurant with high top tables and barstools, and the outside is a beer garden that features live bands on certain days.
- Hotel el Ganzo– boutique hotel in San José where I stayed during my visit. The hotel has great service and the breakfasts are delicious. I spent one day at the hotel’s private beach, which you can only get to by taking their shuttle boat, and it was super relaxing.
- Tap Deck Pizza– one of the best pizzas I have ever had was at this pizzeria in San José. The servers are really nice and they also have a lot of beers on tap. Highly recommend!
- Puerto Paraíso– large shopping center with bars and more upscale restaurants at the Cabo San Lucas marina. It is also a nice place to take an evening stroll and people-watch.
- Flora’s Field Kitchen– local, farm-to-table cuisine. Highly recommend going for brunch.
